چکیده

1. Introduction. The methodology and results described in this paper relate to research for the Alter Ego project (Wright et al., 2005), an art/science collaboration that led to a publicly accessible interactive installation which has been shown in museums and galleries nationally. In essence, a 3D image of the autonomous 'alter ego' of the user is created as a mirror reflection in real time. Initially, this 'alter ego' behaves like a mirror, reflecting the subject's face on the screen and mimicking his or her expressions. After a short period, the image no longer behaves like a mirror, but responds to expressions made by the user in semi-deterministic way.

Alter Ego: Computer Reflections of Human Emotions

In this paper we briefly review and discuss the ideas of self, emotion, and facial expression, and describe how a digital art work in the form of an interactive installation entitled Alter Ego was created to publicly explore these concepts. This work makes use of a variety of strands of modern technology: facial feature tracking, automatic facial measurements from live video, facial expression ...

Facial Expression Recognition Based on Anatomical Structure of Human Face

Automatic analysis of human facial expressions is one of the challenging problems in machine vision systems. It has many applications in human-computer interactions such as, social signal processing, social robots, deceit detection, interactive video and behavior monitoring. In this paper, we develop a new method for automatic facial expression recognition based on facial muscle anatomy and hum...

A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF WAVELET-BASED FEMG SIGNAL DENOISING WITH THRESHOLD FUNCTIONS AND FACIAL EXPRESSION CLASSIFICATION USING SVM AND LSSVM

This work presents a technique for the analysis of Facial Electromyogram signal activities to classify five different facial expressions for Computer-Muscle Interfacing applications. Facial Electromyogram (FEMG) is a technique for recording the asynchronous activation of neuronal inside the face muscles with non-invasive electrodes. FEMG pattern recognition is a difficult task for the researche...

Facial Expression Recognition from Video Sequences: Temporal and Static Modelling

Human-computer intelligent interaction (HCII) is an emerging field of science aimed at providing natural ways for humans to use computers as aids. It is argued that for the computer to be able to interact with humans, it needs to have the communication skills of humans. One of these skills is the ability to understand the emotional state of the person. The most expressive way humans display emo...
